As with all organisations, the Coronavirus and lockdown has impacted on how we deliver our service to people affected by Dementia. Our day support service has been closed during this period. I am pleased to say that we have managed to retain contact with the greater majority of our day guests using technology such as ZOOM and regular weekly telephone contact.
We are continuing to closely monitor the current situation on a day-to-day basis and are actively working on the best ways that we can continue offering support and ultimately return to delivering our services face to face.
The health, safety and well-being of our Day Guests and the staff team is of paramount importance and therefore I am continuously monitoring the most recent Government advice and recommendations.
As a staff team all of us are working either remotely or in pairs from Ty Hapus centre. As a result we are able to keep essential contact with our guests and families. Colleagues in the Health, housing and Social services teams are kept informed of any concerns or health issues raised by our day guests, so that we work cohesively as a group of professionals to ensure individuals support and
health needs continue to be met.
How and when will we return to opening the day support service?
Unfortunately, at this point I am unable to give a definitive re opening date as this very much depends on government guidance and our own ability to meet the environmental changes this may require. I can assure you though that we are preparing Ty Hapus for that time. Our long-term cleaning company have invested in sanitising equipment and before the support team fully return, the building will be deep cleaned and sanitised. Once we return to offering day support a strict cleaning and hygiene routine will be implemented.
If you are receiving support from Ty Hapus then this will continue but will be delivered in a way which is safe for you and our team.
I am very happy to receive new referrals with a view to discussing how we can offer support in the period until we fully open. If you email either either myself or the Deputy manager, we will do our best to meet needs and consider what we can offer presently.
